McAlister’s president Phil Friedman Awarded IFMA Silver Plate

gp08logoapril16 Phil Friedman, president, chairman and CEO of McAlister’s Deli Corp, has been awarded the 2008 Silver Plate in the Chain Full Service category by the International Foodservice Manufacturers Association (IFMA).

McAlister’s continues to be one of the franchise and restaurant industries’ great success stories. With 303 restaurants in 19 states, McAlister’s Deli has an annual sales volume of $333 million. Chain-wide meals total 143,750 per day and average 575 per unit. Average restaurant sales are nearly $26.1 million annually.

According to Fast Casual:

“Under Friedman’s guidance, McAlister’s has implemented a new Web program called Deli Net, which provides feedback on guest satisfaction. The program has increased the customer survey sample size to 100,000 data points representing 55 responses per restaurant per month.
“Friedman also is a board member for the International Franchise Association, the Mississippi Restaurant Association, and the National Restaurant Association. Under Friedman’s direction, McAlister’s Deli also supports Toys for Tots each year, with collections made at the restaurants then deposited for the Children’s Miracle Network. He also is an active lobbyist for the International Food Service Association and Nation’s Restaurant News.
Friedman and the eight other Silver Plate Award winners were selected from nominations by an IFMA jury comprising of last year’s Silver Plate Award recipients, chief editors of national foodservice trade publications and the chairperson of the International Gold & Silver Plate Society.”

Congratulations to the team of the McKinney, TX  McAlister's Deli that helped make the Taste of Collin County fundraiser a success, won Best Dessert and got some nice press from the McKinney News:
MCKINNEY — Collin County residents apparently know a good deal when they see it as the parking lots at Collin County Regional Airport were filled for the Taste of Collin County on Monday night. Food vendors, representing such McKinney staples as McAlister's Deli, Jalapeno Tree, Hooters and Chipotle, set up in booths alongside new businesses On The Border and Genghis Grill to serve a hungry public. A paid ticket to the event meant all the free food one could eat. To say the event was a success would be an understatement. More than 1,000 hungry people walked through the huge hangar doors at the airport - and forced the opening of the overflow parking lots - to sample some of Collin County's finest foods... North Collin County Habitat for Humanity was served well by the event. Taste of Collin County was held to raise funds to help the organization build 6-to-10 new homes in Collin County for people in need. North Collin County Habitat for Humanity has built 32 homes in the area, with two more presently under construction. The organization receives no government grants for construction; rather it relies on the kindness and generosity of the businesses, leaders and citizens of the community to raise funds. ...There were also the awards to hand out at the end of the night... Best Dessert award went to McAlister's Deli...
